Fighters of the Houthi rebel group targeted on Friday houses of the citizens in the country's Red Sea port city of Hodeidah, a military official said.

"The Houthi militia elements used heavy weapons in their shelling that targeted mosques and citizens' houses in the district of Tuhyata causing partial damages," the local military source said .

A number of residential neighborhoods were badly affected by the sporadic Houthi shelling that interrupted the citizens' livelihoods, the source added.

No casualties were reported as a result of the shelling that randomly landed on the residential areas of Tuhyata.

According to local residents in Hodeidah, the Houthi elements continued to target densely populated neighborhoods controlled by the government forces despite the presence of the United Nations cease-fire monitoring team.
