Khalid bin Salman in US to discuss the security and stability of the region‏

The Saudi Deputy Defense Minister Khalid bin Salman is in the United States to discuss issues of common concern that support regional security and stability. The Saudi Press Agency said "Prince Khalid will meet a number of officials to discuss bilateral relations and issues of common concern that support the security and stability of the region ."

Yemen and Iran are expected to be on the agenda, according to Bloomberg News.

The visit comes days after Trump signaled new openness to potential talks with Iran, and a report that the US is looking to enter talks with Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen, Bloomberg added.

Secretary of State Michael Pompeo will meet with the prince on Wednesday afternoon, according to the State Department.

Prince Khaled and his delegation arrived in the United States on Tuesday for an official visit.
