"The federal government has adjusted its neutral stance towards the Gulf crisis and aligned it self with Qatar," said Ahmed Madobe, head of the state of Jubbaland. He said in a statement to the media on his return to the country after a foreign trip involving the UAE, Kenya and Ethiopia.

Ahmed Madobe said "that President Mohamed Faramago was in the city of Kismayo during the outbreak of the Gulf crisis and advised him to take a neutral stance on the Gulf crisis", similar to the position of former Somali President Mohamed Siad Barre, who refused to sever the relationship with Egypt in the 1970s.

Jubbaland State President said it was wrong to transfer the political battle between the Gulf brothers to Somalia through the bias of one party, stressing the need to contain the Gulf crisis in the territory of the Gulf states.

He pointed out that the Somali traders transferred their money to Saudi Arabia and the UAE after the collapse of the central government 1991, and that the UAE saved the money of Somali traders after the suspension of the Somali hawala companies.

He confirmed "The UAE has provided the jubbaland state with assistance, including training for the troops, provision of equipment for them and building hospitals," adding that Qatar had provided little help to the people and jubbaland state .
