Deputy Foreign Minister of Somalia attended the 45th Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OIC in Dhaka‏

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Mukhtar Mahad Daud, attended the 45th session of Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers in the Bangladeshi capital Dhaka, where the foreign ministers and representatives of 57 member states expressed deep dissatisfaction with the situation facing the Rohingya Muslims.

They called upon the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to respect the rights of the Rohingyas.

The May 5-6 ministerial meeting called on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities to pressure Myanmar to respect human rights and Rohingyas’ rights so that they can safely return to their homes.

Somalia is in solidarity with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in its objectives and agendas in economic cooperation, reducing humanitarian crises and solving the troubled political and security situation in the member countries.

On the sidelines of the conference, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.E. Mr. Mukhtar Mahad Daud met with Turkish Deputy Prime Minister HE Mr. Bekir Bozdağ and discussed enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation as well as regional and international issues of common concern.

The Deputy Foreign Minister also met with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of theTurkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Prof. Dr. Kudret Özersay, where they discussed important issues of mutual concern.
